Gosport Road Runners' invite you to take part in the 25th anniversary of our event.  The race takes place on Sunday 21st November 2010 commencing at 10am. The venue is Bay House School, 18 Gomer Lane, Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire PO12 2QP.

As this is our 25th anniversary we want it to be a special race. Not many races have survived for so long and despite all the trials and tribulations over the years organising the event, it is still going strong and the number of entries continues to grow.

In response to many requests, chip timing will be introduced for the first time this year. This facility means there will be a price increase from last year.

The Gosport Half Marathon is a venue for the Hampshire Road Race League.

It is also this year's Hampshire half marathon championship.  The County championship is open to any runner who was born in Hampshire or resident in the county for the past 9 months and belongs to a Hants AA affiliated Club.

We really do appreciate runners giving a few minutes of their time after the race to send us their comments. It is invaluable information for the race committee. A good place to post a review is on the Runner’s World website or e- mail the race director.

The course has excellent PB potential; it is flat and virtually all off-road. A section of the route is on the service roads of an airfield and the seafront.

The race entries tend to be split 50/50 between Club and non Club Runners, so there is a good mix of abilities that ensures the race feels busy but rarely crowded. There were over 1700 entries last year.

Unfortunately, the race is not suitable for wheelchair athletes.

Closing date for postal entries is 10th November. On-line entries will close on 19th November (Unless race limit is reached).

For postal entries, cheques should be made payable to 'Gosport Road Races' and sent to: Gosport Half Marathon, PO Box 22, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 3ER. Self addressed stamped envelopes not needed.

Online entry is also available:

Fees:  Affiliated runner  £14.00    Non Affiliated runner  £16.00 (Non refundable).

There are no entries on the day.

Whilst the main event is underway, a 'Fun Run' for children under 12 takes place. It covers a distance of 1.2k. The event is off road, commencing on a grassed area near the seafront, through a park and finishing in the school grounds. If your child wants you to run with them, that is okay. No medal for parents! The entry cost is £2.00. Payment and registration for the 'Fun Run' may be made on the day of the race. If you wish to register before race day you may do so either by post or on-line entry using same procedure as for adult entry.

All finishers will receive a medal and Goody Bag.

Under EA rules the use of MP3 Players and similiar devices are not permitted whilst running for health and safety.

In the event of severe weather or unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the race organisers, we reserve the right to cancel the race. If this decision is made, no refund of race entry fees will be made as most of the costs are incurred before the start of the race.
