These reward you for clocking up miles over time—just keep running and watch the achievements stack up. Our Club Standard Awards – Focused on speed! Earn these by hitting target times. Whether you’re in it for distance or speed, there’s an award waiting for you!

Gemstone Awards
Looking for a way to stay consistent with your training? No pressure—just get out, run, and enjoy the journey, whether solo or with friends. This challenge is open to all club members and aims to boost fitness, strength, and overall well-being. It fosters camaraderie, friendly competition, and a shared passion for running while maintaining the all-inclusive ethos of GRR.
The awards are structured around the Hierarchy of Gemstones—Diamond, Ruby, and Emerald. Members set their own challenge by running an accumulative number of miles within a specific period.
How it works
- Choose your challenge level and sign up
- Track your runs using a running app or submit your results through other media if needed
- Stay committed and hit your target to earn your gemstone award!
Award Levels
- Emerald – 200 miles in 100 days (2.0 miles/day, 14 miles/week)
- Ruby – 500 miles in 150 days (3.3 miles/day, 23.3 miles/week)
- Diamond – 1000 miles in 250 days (4.0 miles/day, 28 miles/week)
Key rules
1.
Honesty is key—miles should come from running, not casual strolls.
2.
If injuries occur, a one-time 7-day extension is allowed, but lost miles must be made up.
3.
Mileage does not roll over to the next challenge. Each level starts from zero.
4.
No breaks for holidays—you’re in charge of keeping up with your mileage!
5.
If the goal isn’t met within the timeframe, the challenge resets to zero.
6.
Runs must be evidential and submitted weekly.

Club standard awards
Want to take your running to the next level? The Club Standard Awards help you measure and improve your performance against international standards based on age and gender.
These awards follow the World Association of Veteran Athletes (WAVA) grading system, which compares your times to world-class performances at your age. It’s a great way to track your progress, push yourself further, and engage in healthy competition.
How it works
- Your race results are graded as a percentage of world-class performances.
- The higher your percentage, the closer you are to elite standards for your age group.
- This system levels the playing field, so you can compare yourself fairly with runners of all ages!
Award Levels
- Bronze – 55%
- Silver – 60%
- Gold – 65%
- Platinum – 70%
- England Athletics Masters – 75%
- National Class – 80%
*For those aiming for world-class recognition, standards are available upon request.

How to achieve
The times needed to achieve a reward is based on your sex and age group You can click below to view the full criteria for achieving a reward and the times necessary based on your category.
Award Criteria
To Qualify for an award, a member must attain 4 out of 5 Distances. The 10K and 5 Mile standard can only be claimed in one distance. That is 10K or 5 Mile( Not Both) The standard is to be achieved on a certified registered distance event and reported to results coordinator. ( Incumbent on members to report Results) Park Run Valid, but evidence to be produced. ( Park Run not reported) Monthly Time trials Valid Members can only claim one standard in each category ( Gold, Silver etc) Within the 5 Year timescale. That is one Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Masters and National Class). The concept is to continual improvement and progress to next level. Members are responsible for declaring and claiming their award, which will be verified by results coordinator. The Award Period runs from 01 Jan- 31 Dec. A members age group category changeover is the age that they will be that particular year. Example: If a 45th Birthday is July 2025, the age group commences 01 Jan 2025.
